Lawrence James Gary is a professional artist from Detroit Michigan who has been painting since 2009, Before he began painting he worked mainly in the drawing and sketching mediums.
In 2009 he developed a passion for the painting medium which has become his main focus. Lawrence prefers to use acrylic paint with a heavy emphasis on the abstract for his creations. He has adopted the textured technique as his signature style, you'll notice this technique in most of his paintings.
In 2017 Lawrence held his first solo art show entitled "An Abstract conversation" and followed that one up with his Jazz themed art show called "Captured Sound” in 2018. His third showing was called "The sounds I see" in 2019, this event was hosted by hall of fame Journalist Rochelle Riley who is the Director of Arts Culture and Entrepreneurship for the city of Detroit, and Diana Lewis, both are collectors of his art. He uses a blend of bright and vibrant colors to bring his paintings to life. Lawrence has twice been a finalist for the Prestigious Kresge Award and has been featured in the Artist and Arts publication The Uplifting.
Lawrence is a Veteran of the U.S Army.
