Army Medical Discharge
Have we no shame in treatment of homeless veteran?
Because of this medical condition and the effects of his medicine, he is unable to work. He is going to college to remedy this situation, but to quote him from the article, “I'm not comfortable with my kids growing up here. For me, it's not the way I pictured having a family and everything.”
While I am thankful for the Salvation Army shelter, what does it say about a country that does not take care of its retired defenders? Have we no shame? I hope and pray that someone who reads this article will have the power and means to remedy this situation.

I recently joined the military in may of 2008. In September my gallbladder went bad and I had surgery. In October I had my surgery. Since then, I’ve developed acid reflux and (IBS) *Irritated Bowel Syndrome* I know i’m getting medically discharged, but are there any benefits I will get even though I have not went to basic yet? Or am I just screwed once i get out?

You’ll be eligible for continued treatment at the VA. It’s unlikely you’ll get a VA disability rating due to a bad gallbladder, but you can try. Make a Xerox copy of all your medical records, even the surgical record which will not be in your regular record. You’ll need it for the VA if you try for a partial disability.
If you don’t have copies of your own records it could take the VA years to get them and evaluate you.
