KANSAS CITY - The summer of 2011 is keeping a sizzling grip on Missouri. In Kansas City, where Tuesday's high temperature was expected to hit 106, city leaders urged residents to take caution with outdoor activity. The entire metro area was under a heat warning, and residents without air conditioning or fans were urged to head to community shelters. By Chris Blank.

MISSING TROOPER

MOUND CITY - Heartbroken law enforcement officers battled fast-moving floodwaters and extreme heat as they searched for the body of a missing colleague and his patrol dog who apparently were swept away in northwest Missouri. Trooper Fred Guthrie Jr., 46, of Platte City, and his K-9, Reed, disappeared Monday while patrolling flooded lands near Big Lake in Holt County. A frantic rescue effort became a recovery mission early Tuesday when officials determined it was unlikely they had survived.

TAX CREDITS LAWSUIT

JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Supreme Court has rejected a challenge to a law granting millions of dollars of tax credits to a developer wanting to transform part of north St. Louis. The Supreme Court cited a couple different reasons Tuesday while ruling against two St. Louis residents who had claimed the tax credits amount to an unconstitutional granting of public money to a private entity. BUSCH STADIUM-FALLING METAL

ST. LOUIS - Inspectors are checking Busch Stadium in St. Louis after a 100-pound piece of metal trim fell to the ground. No one was hurt, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that an inspection was under way Tuesday to look at the rest of the 5-year-old ballpark's trim. Parts of the sidewalk around the stadium were blocked off for the inspection.

TR Auto Truck Plaza in Dandridge, TN, gets 'electrified'

This truck stop electrification (TSE) project was funded by an American Resource and Recovery Act stimulus grant through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Clean Diesel Campaign and the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation (TDOT). The grant was awarded to TR Auto Truck Plaza, located off exit 412 on I-40 in east Tennessee. After a competitive bid process from potential TSE providers, Rick Lewis, owner of TR Auto Truck Plaza, selected EnviroDock, Inc. as his vendor of choice.

 “We are pleased to help provide truck drivers with a way to be comfortable in their truck cabs without idling their engines,” said TDOT commissioner John Schroer. “Idling creates harmful diesel emissions that can affect the health of truck drivers and other truck stop patrons. Diesel emissions also contribute to poor air quality,” Schroer said. “TSE allows truckers to save fuel, save money and get better rest.”

The E-Dock Stationary is a stand-alone heating, cooling and power system. This unit delivers electronically filtered and temperate air to the truck cab through two thermally insulated flexible ducts via a window control panel. This patent pending window unit is attached to a swinging arm, which makes installation into the cab window as simple and weightless as possible.
