Bro. Shannon brought the morning message from 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 titled "Christ is our rock solid." Bro. Shannon shared two stories of Moses and the rocks in the desert, which brought out water for children of God. In the first story from Exodus 17, Moses was instructed by God to strike the rock. He did it, and keeping water out. Unfortunately, Moses disobeyed God and struck the rock in anger, asking, "Should I put forth water for you?" This disobedience caused Moses to fail to enter the Promised Land. Why was God's punishment so strict?The answer lies in the symbolism of the rock. I 1 Corinthians 10:1-4, we are told that Christ was the rock from which water support (often referred to as the water of life) sank. It was OK to hit the rock first because it fulfills Isaiah 53:4-6, "He was hit by God, and afflicted." However, the rock should be hit once, just as Christ had to die just once for our sins. For him, strikes again is contrary to the sacrifice he made for us on Calvary. Moses disobeyed God, but worse, the lack of respect for the sacrifice made by God to save the people and tried to steer the glory to himself!Hebrews 10:26-31 warns that Judgement will come to us when we disrespect the sacrifice of Christ, continuing to sin, even after receiving salvation. However, the grace of God is always present. When we sin, it provides a means of forgiveness. We simply come to the Rock of Ages and talk! This event follows the feeding of thousands of his supporters with two small fish and five loaves designed as a small lunch for a little boy. The crowd had gathered on shore to hear Jesus preach, but had not come prepared for lunch.When lunch time passed, the disciples ask Jesus to send the crowd away, but he began to feed the hungry before sending them on their way. This done, he told the disciples to get into a boat and cross to the other side of the sea during the crossing, Matthew said: "The wind was contrary," throwing the boat to put men in fear for their lives. At that time, they saw Jesus walking toward them across the water. They do not believe what they saw. Jesus saw their fear, saying: "Be cheerful, it's me" But they were skeptical.These two competing miracles of magnitude among many others made by our Lord. God works miracles every day, I think. It's his business. We see miracles every day, but fail to recognize them for what they are. Like Peter, we allow the fear of being a powerful force in our lives and prevent us from recognizing the glory of God and the miracles he sends our way. Pray also for the revival to come. Mt Pisgah spent a wonderful week. Our renaissance summer went very well, with guest speaker Donna Martin and Bo DeLoach. The theme of the week was "Onward, Christian Soldiers" as we all prepared for spiritual warfare happening in the world today.Special music was provided by Percy and Tootsie Scott, Carla and Anna Wilson, Cheyenne Popwell, Shay Gibson, Randall Edwards, Joe Raspberry and Mt. Pisgah Choir. Percy Scott thank you to his fields to make available for the mission group from Indiana to pick up the rest of his crop fields. The group gleaned 20 bushels of peas in a matter of hours. The harvest will be used in local food banks by harvesting the Department of hope through the Society of St. Andrews. Our special prayers go out to Percy this week where he is recovering from heart surgery. The service ended with "I must tell Jesus" led by Bro. Kenneth Moates.Sunday night service began with the songs "Prepare to leave this world," "I'll have a new body," "I Want to Know More" and "I'll have a new life." Devotion Bro Kenneth Moates' came from Matthew 11:28-30. If we cast our burdens on the Lord, he will do the rest. Bro. Don's message came from Ephesians 1:17-20 and was the second part of the message he preached last Sunday, "the riches of the grace of God." He wanted the church to think about wealth that we are for the Lord. God has provided a quilt to each person who is born again in Christ.We are rich because we have the comforter to walk with us in life. Cherish all the wealth that God has blessed you with, because you never know when the devil could take them. Bro. Steve Sunday morning message was taken from Proverbs 4:23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for from it flow the issues of life." Each person is who they are, inside the heart. We are using all due diligence to safeguard (protect) our heart. Be careful what we let what we see and hear, our thoughts and desires.It is important to identify and remove all the harmful things of the heart and place it in our hearts those things that allow us to live a fruitful life that others feel and build. It was a great blessing to have a wonderful group gathered in the house of God for our worship service last Sunday. After a Sunday school lesson in big, our morning began with some great stories, singing old songs and some favorite music special by Tammy Harmon (singing "He'll Do It Again") and Lillie and Tammy Jones ( singing "Lord Keep Me in Your Will"). Just before Bro.Derrell has brought his message entitled "The sky will be a Blast reasons", he sings "The Good News is Bad News is wrong." His message was taken from Hebrews 11:13-16. There is a better place prepared for the family of faith. A place where there will be rejoicing, not complaining. There will be no imperfections in the body or mind. No time limit will be fixed because it will be eternal. But the best because that gives us to see God Himself.'s message tonight that God sent to us by Bro. Derrell was "The Thrill Has Gone" taken from the Psalms 51:12-13.Have discouraged events in your life caused this to happen to you? These verses can minister to you if you feel that way. God is always the same as it was at the time of the first accepted him as Savior and was on fire for him. What caused you no longer have the zeal you have ever had can (and does) interfere with your testimony. God will restore the joy to you if you are willing to repent and ask him to do so. Sunday's message came from Hebrews 3:1-19. Jesus is the High Priest, who has given us eternal life as a gift from God.We have authority over the devil and false prophets who seek to destroy God's people. They just need the Savior that you and me. Jesus faithfully discharged his duty on earth and in heaven. We should faithfully fulfill the duty that we have received as Christians and servants. Every day we encounter people who are in need of a Savior. Jesus is our advocate with the Father and intercedes for us and for our well-being. Calvary Independent Baptist Church had a great time of fellowship of fishing on Friday night and Saturday morning. Every Saturday night had a fish fry at the church with a lot of fun and the food.Sunday morning we were blessed with more visitors and had a great time in our Sunday School classes. Our bus ministry is going strong for Jesus, and the ministry of our children is great! Thank you all for your prayers. During the worship service for adults of our pastor, Rick Hatchett, brought a message on the need for humility in a person's life and how it is an essential part in the salvation of a person. Our youth pastor, Kevin Shaw, announced a swimming trip coming August 13. Anyone planning on going to meet at the church from about 9 am and plan to stay until 5:00 p.m.Sunday night with a continuous message of Revelation 9 with Associate Pastor Oscar Mims. August 14 while on duty Sunday night, the message will be worn by the young pastor Kevin Shaw. If you've never heard it might be a reason to visit, come out and worship with us.
