Breaking Bad: Jesse's Parties Totally Suck Now

Season 4 getting off to a slow start, but I completely disagree with that sentiment. The tension of "Box Cutter" was as thick as it's ever been, and the psychological deconstruction of "Thirty-Eight Snub" in the wake of the bloody events of the premiere was riveting. But I can see how one would think that last night's "Open House" dragged its feet a bit.

We have to come up for air sometimes, and "Open House" was our chance to take a deep breath while Walter and Skyler took care of some housekeeping. Mainly, buying a car wash. It's interesting that Skyler so doggedly went after Mr. Eyebrows' carwash even after he rejected her initial offer. There are two takes on this: 1) Skyler is a badass who's becoming the Bonnie to Walt's Clyde, a ruthless criminal who thinks reputation is just as critical to the business as strength. Or 2) Skyler is sloppy, putting her own beef before the common sense of running an illegal operation. I'll defend the second option, since that's the way I'm leaning.

I'm with Saul. Is it really that smart to go after a particular car wash when there are others in the area? If I was running a shady operation, discretion would be my top priority. And one of the last things I'd want to do would be to buy a business from a man who's already got it out for me, out of fear that he may try to take revenge in the future. On a show that's all about decisions and consequences, it's this kind of hubris that's going to come back and bite Skyler and Walt in the ass.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why did Skyler get upset over a $300 bottle of champagne that Walt bought after bullying a man into selling her a car wash for $800k? A man who already despises Walter? She gave Walter grief for maybe being seen at a liquor store buying some bubbly, yet practically threatened Mr. Eyebrows into selling his business to the very same man (Walt) she scolded for being less than discreet. If I were Mr. Eyebrows, I might be wondering why Walter, my former employee who walked out and grabbed his crotch in my general direction, can suddenly afford that. It sounds like Skyler is ignoring her own advice. Discreet would be setting up a dummy account and buying a car wash from a stranger, not ripping off an enemy. "The Devil's in the details," she said to Walt, yet last week she was the one yapping about the car wash on Walter's answering machine. I'm just not getting a sense of consistency from her, which is either shaky writing or brilliant writing if the implication is that she's a horrible business partner for Walt.

It feels like you are listening to it through a grubby window, for all of its pulsing, hesitant duration. An intriguing funk workout that begins with some inordinately breath-heavy flute, 'Spy' sees Laura J Martin sing as if she were a hummingbird,

I marveled at the sound of my own breath, the beat of my own heart. One of my favorite biblical passages is when God told the prophet Elijah to go outside and stand on the mountain because He would be passing by. (1 Kings 19:11-12): “A strong and heavy

Maybe also, sometimes it's best not to be too paranoid about a bit of extraneous sound being there - it proves a human being is playing! I had an intersting conversation with a keen classical listener a while back - and he said that he liked to hear things like breathing, finger-noise etc. present (possibly because it made him think how good his hi-fi was to be able to reproduce such sounds...)
