Get SET for the 2011 ARRL Simulated Emergency Test

Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is scheduled for October 1-2, 2011. This national exercise is the chance to test your operational skills and emergency preparedness of your communications equipment and accessories in an emergency deployment type. Leaders ARRL Field Organization Section and local level - and many other volunteers who are active in public service and emergency communications - develop as emergency scenarios, in consultation with various agencies for which the amateur are known to provide service during emergencies. Again this year, ARRL is a member of National Preparedness Month Coalition.National Preparedness Month (NPM) is in September, and this is a national effort to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is working with a wide variety of organizations - including the ARRL - to highlight the importance of emergency preparedness and promote individual involvement through events and activities across the nation.We encourage you to consider this year's test simulated an emergency and all its preparations as a demonstration of amateur radio preparation and as an active participant in National Preparedness Month. In return for local calendars and section-wide with agencies and many others, ARRL Field Organization Leaders have the opportunity to lead their local set or section-wide on another weekend the fall season. Check with your local management ARRL Field Organization for the exact date in your area. Your help is needed, and all ARRL is a great way to get involved in emergency communications.Information on established guidelines and specific forms of reporting of these leaders in the field are posted on the ARRL site of the ARRL.
