PlayStation Vita To Allow Cross-Game Voice Chat
At the Develop Conference 2011, Sony Europe manager of R&D, Phil Rogers, recently touched upon the PlayStation Vita’s online features , as reported by Eurogamer, explaining concepts such as “Near,” “Party” and “LiveArea”.
Similar to Xbox Live, the Vita’s Party feature will let you gather multiple friends to communicate online while playing games. The Party feature on PS Vita supports up to four users at once, and allows them to voice chat with each other across different games.
“You can have different Party groups for different games or genres," Rogers explained. “Maybe you’ve got a first-person shooter group that you can all chat and go into.” Party chat can also be overridden by chats within a single game. He added that, while the Party feature is integrated with friends lists, games can choose not to support it.
This seems another cool feature that far better targets the Japanese market than the US. Mass transit on the scale and style of Japan is really limited to a few Northeastern cities and perhaps LA. You just won’t ever meet as many potential teammates you can call up and roll with if you take different trains in the evening or morning.
Stateside, you’ll be limited largely to the same group of folks you already game with. Whom you will need to coordinate buying Phantasy Star Vita, MH or whatever else comes with a team play option.
I’m just not seeing Vita being different enough that it will lead to a seismic change in buying habits from the PSP.
This is why I would hold off on buying the Vita for now. The software line-up simply doesn’t impress at this very moment, and the non-BC factor for UMDs just makes it seem like they don’t care. The biggest thing I’m hoping for is if they can release the same innovative games that they’ve done for the PSP. I don’t care for the graphics that much, considering the last one looked just fine. I need my quirky titles, not ports of existing games.
The thing about the PS Vita and PSN is that it can be used like Steam for buying and playing with gamers anywhere in the world. It does not matter if one lives in a city or town because the online connection is all that really matters.
I am fairly certain a PSN member from any region can join in on a cross-game chat and considering the fact that PSN is always expanding this social feature will expand the game and the PS Vita in terms of it being a socially connected experience.

McCollom didn't mention is how GameCube games will be made available on the Wii U. Will they be the original games running off a Virtual Console-like emulator? Or will they be HD ports rebuilt from the ground up like we've seen on the PS3 and Xbox 360?

Dolphin Multiplayer (2 Players) w/ Xbox 360 controllers
Hey everyone, i've been searching for awhile but haven't been able to find anything, so i've decided to make this post. Pretty much, whats happening is that i have two xbox 360 controllers (wired) and i hooked them both up with dolphin. They're both recognized, but each controller controls eachother, as if they are on the same pad or something? Like what you do with player one e.g. move down, player 2 moves down aswell. I tried switching it from Xinput 0 to 1 and make them 0 and 1 respectively, but that hasn't changed anything. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Also im running on Dolphin 3.0. The problem is with GC, in my GCPad the only options I have are Dinput/0/Keyboard Mouse, which works for one player, and the other two are Xinput/0 and 1/Gamepad. When I assign one of them too 0 and one of them to 1, they mirror eachother, as if one controller controls them both. Then when I assign one too the keyboard mouse and one to the xinput, they both act for player one. The controllers are fine, they're both normal xbox 360 controllers, i'm thinking theres either a problem with the dolphin version in using (r7670) or theres something i'm doing wrong with Xpadder.
